“There has always been a rather unnatural bias against New Zealandmade goods, and this we still have to overcome,” said Mr A. M. Hollander, president of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association, in addressing the association at its annual meeting last evening. “In war time and with a limitation on suitable raw materials something not quite so good as it should be sometimes gets on to the market. There may be a reasonable excuse for this, but as a manufacturers' organisation we realise our duly to the consuming public and we shall do our utmost to keep our standards as high as circumstances permit and to develop a quality-consciousness in the minds of all our manufacturers.” Stating that prejudice against New Zealand products could be broken only through the gaining of public confidence, he urged the buying public to take any complaints to the' association's office.
