South Solomon Missions. —The Rev. Father McMahon, S.M., a Catholic missionary recently returned from the South Solomon Islands, addressed a big attendance of friends of the south Solomon Mission at St. Mary’s Memorial Hall. Manchester street, last evening. He told of experiences and escape after hiding from the Japanese for four weeks in the jungle of Guadalcanar. He had been an eye-witness of naval and air battles which took place near the Solomons. Father McMahon reached New Zealand at the beginning of October. His Lordship Bishop Brodie. and the Very Rev. Father T. Heffernan. S.M.. congratulated Father McMahon on his instructive address and asked all to give who'chcarted support to the cause of the south Solomons Mission*.
