INTERNATIONALISM
Sir,—ln respect of numbers and claiming world-wide contacts the Campaign for Christian Order would be international. but the strongest exception should be taken to such a claim on any other ground. The term was unknown at the time of the Christian origins and perhaps for more than 1000 years after, and the claim for a world-wide recognition is merely a boosting of nationalism by its propagandists, very displeasing to Jews, Arabs. Indians, Chinese, Russians, and the non-campaigners among ourselves, and quite trivial as a post-war contribution. Internationalism grows continually in complexity, especially since the Fascists gave us further details of the philosophy aptly fitted for the wolf, the tiger, and the jackal. Mentioning one part of the content of the term, the problems of peace or war, it is evident they are already too tough for most of us. A worth-while general discussion seems indicated. — Yours, etc., JAS. R. WILKINSON. Rangiora, November 22, 1942.
