WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION
Belfast.—Mrs Halllgan presided at the monthly meeting of the division. Mrs Taylor gave an interesting talk on the garden and demonstrated the arranging of a presentation box of flowers. Competitions were for scones, a buttonhole, and small and large blooms. RedclUTs.—Mrs Carter presided at the November meeting of the division. Scarves were collected to be returned to the Patriotic Society. Mrs Davis (St. Albans) gave a demonstration of felt work. Traycloths made by members were given to a soldiers' hospital. A collection was taken for the leper appeal. Competitions were for a traycloth, a bowl of roses, and the best lettuce. ' W.W.S.A. Cycle Corps at Seadown.— The Cycle Corps of the W.W.S.A. at Seadown is progressing under the leadership of Miss Margaret Edgar. Signalling has been taught by Mr J. Hewson, and Mr -W. Kennedy has given instruction in drill and physical exercises. Miss Twentyman, chairwoman of the W.W.S.A., has taken members to parades in Timaru. WOMEN, WE TAKE OFF OUR HATS TO YOU! You are one of the new order of women who demand that perfection of health which comes only through freedom from physical and mental discomfort. Women are assisting more and more to carry the burden of the industrial work of the country. They must therefore be able to tackle their jobs EVERY day, free from that "off-colour” feeling.
