MEN FOR FREEZING WORKS

* RELEASE FROM ARMY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, November 26. The Minister of National Service (the Hon. A. McLagan) said to-day that the Army authorities were, in riifcordance with a decision of the War Cabinet, now carrying out a survey of men in camp with a view to making experienced freezing hands available to the industry for the season. Mr McLagan said that the maximum output of meat for overseas destinations was required. The demand was of such urgency that every available man with freezing-works experience had to be located. Those who could be directed from other Industries were insufficient, and accordingly the War Cabinet had decided to release qualified men from camp, with certain exceptions. The actual release was arranged by district manpower officers, to whom experienced men in camp could apply. Mr McLagan said that a certain amount of inexperienced labour would also be required, and applications from suitable men in territorial units would be considered.
