CLOSER CO-OPERATION SOUGHT
SUGGESTION TO PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE A decision to approach the Timara (Zone) Patriotic Committee with t view to suggesting that some form of co-operation should be brought about, was made at the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Patriotic and War Relief Society. Mr W. H. Orbell (president) suggested that the society, in view of the existence of the Timaru (Zone) Patriotic Society, should consider the desirability of closer co-operation with organisations created during the war to safeguard the interests f servicemen. The society, which had been in existence for-26 to 27 years, possessed files relating to many men now on active service, and those records should be made available to the patriotic authorities that had come jlnto - existence during the present war. In Wellington, Mr Orbell said, the efforts of the two committees had been merged by the formation of an applications committee. The arrangement was working smoothly and seemed to' him to point the way that should be followed by the South Canterbury Society. '
