WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

Burnham.—Mrs J. A. Scott presided at the monthly meeting of the institute. Mrs J. H. Williams gave a report of the federation meeting held at Christchurch. Donations of money were made to the institute housekeepers’ scheme fund, the prisoners of war parcel fund, and the Junior Red Cross. An interesting letter was read from the Burnham Green Institute in England telling of its war work. Another interesting letter was received from Mr Gavin Scott acknowledging a parcel received in Egypt. Mrs J. A. Scott won the wandering shilling. A competition for a Christmas gift costing not more than 2s, and for large and small blooms brought in large entries. I
