VICEREGAL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. The Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall) will leave Wellington to-mor-row for a short visit to Invercargill and Dunedin. He will return to Wellington on Friday. The Minister of Primary Production for War Purposes (the Hon. J. G. Barclay), accompanied by his private secretary (Mr R. D. Steel) has returned to Wellington. Mr John Roberts, secretary of the New Zealand Clothing Workers’ Federation, left yesterday for Wellington. Messrs G. A. Pascoe (Factory Controller), J. B. Prendergast (Paper SubController of the Ministry of Supply), E. Brown (manager of Whakatane Paper Mills, Ltd.), and R. Humphries (of Messrs B. J. Wall, Ltd.. Auckland, distributors of the Whakatane products) will be among those attending the annual meeting in Christchurch this week of the New Zealand Carton and Fibreboard Association. The president is Mr H. Lindsay, of Auckland, and the secretary Mr D. I. Macdonald, of Wellington. Congratulations were extended to Mr F. Wilding, K.C., by the Canterbury Cricket Association on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday. Professor I. L. G. Sutherland, who was called to Masterton owing to the illness of his mother, returned to Christchurch yesterday. The Hon. Mr Justice Tyndall, Judge of the Arbitration Court, arrived from Wellington yesterday. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr S. G. Holland) returned to Christchurch from Wellington yesterday. Dean Warren travelled to Wellington by air yesterday. The Minister of Manpower (the Hon. A. McLagan) returned to Wellington by air yesterday. The Dominion secretary of the Now Zealand Employers’ Federation (Mr D. I. Macdonald) arrived by air from Wellington yesterday.
