U-BOAT BASES BOMBED

FIGHTER SWEEPS OVER FRANCE (8.0. W.) RUGBY, Nov. 18, American Flying Fortresses and Liberators yesterday raided the German submarine bases of Lorient and La Pallice, in the Bay of Biscay. One aircraft is missing. . Squadrons of the Royal Air Force Fighter Command to-day made several sweeps over northern France. The Luftwaffe was not seen, and all the British aircraft returned. During small-scale operations by other Allied aircraft over occupied territory at least 14 locomotives were damaged or destroyed. An oil storage tank was left smoking, and factories and barges were attacked. American pilots blew up a goods train, and Czech pilots shot up gun-posts. Three of these aircraft are missing.
