“HERITAGE ”
MOVEMENT TO ASSIST CHILDREN “Heritage,” a movement to provide social servieds for the fatherless children of this war, is being started 'n New Zealand, and Mr R. H. Beaumont, of Wellington, is visiting Christchurch t< interest businessmen in the scheme. It aims to provide assistance and guidance in a form as nearly similar as possible to that which would have been given by the fathers who have lo~t their lives in the country’s service. Membership is divided into four classes —sponsors who will undertake personal supervision of the child’s development, general members who will subscribe to the cause, firms which w -, l contribute, and executive members. Among the services which it Is planned to bring to these children arc playing facilities in childhood, direction in education, expert medical and dental advice, character training in -x----isting movements, opportunities for higher education, vocational guidance, and general assistance in setting up in life. Much of the success of the enterprise will depend on the personal qualities of the sponsors, but it is confidently expected that men will be readily available to help in seeing that these children are sent out into the world fully equipped mentally, physically, and spiritually.
