NEW EDUCATION FELLOWSHIP

CHRISTCHURCH BRANCH MEETING His opinion that the New Education Fellowship could not achieve the success it should achieve without the interest and co-operation of the general public was emphasised by the retiring president (Mr W. J. Cartwright) at the annual meeting of the Christchurch branch last evening. Last year the branch had endeavoured to increase public interest in its work and had m t with some measure of success, he added. It was not an organisation for professional teachers only. The annual report stated that membership had increased during the year from 86 to 152. The Play Centres Association had affiliated and members of a study group on mental health, fed by Dr. C. M. Bevan-Brown, had joined the branch. The following officers were elected:— President, Dr. C. M. Bevan-Brown; vicepresident. Mr W. J. Cartwright; secretary, Mr A. T. Campbell; treasurer. Mr G. D. Ashton; committee, Misses J. Hay and M. V. Kennedy, and Messrs C. A. Noble, C. W. Collins, and W. T. Langley. After the meeting, Dr. K. R. Popper gave an address on “Education for Democracy.” ___________
