“I CAN AND I WILL...”
THE REFLECTIONS OF A BUSINESS MAN “During the past few days I’ve been thinking seriously about the amount I should contribute to the Second Liberty Loan. "I can easily afford £so—perhaps £IOO. But is that enough? How much could I spare if I tried really hard? I’ve got £2OO earmarked for a seaside section; and I had thought of giving my wife a fur coat for her birthday. But I can’t help wondering—shouldn’t all my spare money go into the Loan? After all, everything is at stake. If we lost the war, money would be worth nothing, cars and fur coats would be a joke, and we would all be grubbing about for the simplest necessities of life. "The more money I lend, therefore, the more chance there is of strengthening the Fighting Forces and thus defending my home and business and way of life. “So, as far as I’m concerned, my cheque will be not for £SO or £loo— for, yes, I believe I will make it £SOO. I’ll lend to the limit—for, remember, my contribution is but a loan and New Zealand’s future is my security.” Will yon, too, lend to the limit?
