GREAT WAR ASSOCIATION
RECALLED
The Aegean Society, which consists solely of members of the Canterbury Infantry Battalion, New Zealand Expeditionary Force, who left the Dominion in the transports Athenic and Tahiti, held its sixth annual meeting in Christchurch recently. There were about 40 members present at the meeting. which was held on the twentyeighth anniversary of the battalion’s departure from Lyttelton. Most of the members belonged to the Main Body and took part in the landing on Gallipoli. The following officers were elected: —Patron. Colonel the Hon. Sir R Heaton Rhodes; vice-patron. Colonel the Hon. G. J. Smith; president, Major J. W. Crampton; vice-president, Mr R. Stevens; secretary-treasurer. Lieutenant J. A. Harris; deputy-secretary, Mr F. Hunt; auditor, Lieutenant F. G. Dunn; sick visitors, Messrs F. Hunt and G. Ashton; committee, Lieutenant A. M. Brosnan, Messrs G. Hamilton, W. Waterson, J. Mullins, C. Round, J. Hilson. H. Davis, W. Auld. J. O’Donnell, and E. Gates. Two life members, Messrs F. Pender and G. Burgess, are members of the committee ex officio.
