Big Nominations The New Brighton Trotting Club has received 188 nominations for the eight races to be run at its meeting at Addington on October 10. Patriotic Meeting For its Patriotic meeting, to be held next Saturday, the Ashburton Trotting Club has received solid support from owners of novice pacers and trotters. The good stakes provided by the New Zealand Metrpolitan. Ashburton, and New Brighton '"rotting Clubs have given owners a chance to get their horses out of the maiden classes, and although the totalisator will net be in operation, the stakes alone provide sufficient inducement. That owners of the better class horses appreciate the chance of a good trial under racing conditions is shown by the entry of 13 for the Victory Handicap of a mile and a half, the prize for which Is a trophy valued at £lO. Included in the list of nominations are such well-known performer? as Fine Art, Peter Smith, Dusky Sound, and Loyal Rcy, horses in preparation for the New Zealand Cup. Braw Lass, Pacing Power, and Chatmos are others engaged, and their meeting with the champions wil be full of interest.
Sandlways The form shown by Sandlways at the Geraldine meeting on Saturday showed him to be a pacer of the greatest promise and one likely to enter good class company. He will be given another chance at Ashburton on oaturday, when he will meet useful horses in CastL-bar. Festivity, Quite Good, and Audition The field in this race is composed mainly of horses that have graduated from the maiden classes and give promise of rising to the higher grades. Castlebar, from D. Teahen's stable, is a good type and may yet be heard of on metropolitan courses. Well-bred Pacers Safety Pin and Festivity, two good winners for F G Holmes during th¥ last 12 months, are engaged at the Patriotic meeting on Saturday. Festivity is by Rey de Oro from Trix Pointer, a New Zealand Cup winner. Safety Pin is by Rey de Oro from Bonny Logan. The dams of both these pacers were among the best in New Zealand a few years ago.
