REDCLIFFS SEA-WALL
Sir,—Can Mr Tait or Messrs Beck and Harper explain to a bewildered public why what has been done with great success and at small cost in building out a low wall 12ft beyond the tram lines, both sides of the yacht club buildings in Moncks Bay, cannot be done that way the whole length of the bay? By whose authority is a 3ft lOin wall being erected? The council authorised only a 3ft wall, amply high and less dangerous and disfiguring. And who is responsible for the extra and needless cost?— Yours, etc., / PUZZLED. September 18, 1042. [The Mayor of Sumner (Mr J. E. Tait) offered no comment when this letter was referred to him.] VEGETABLES Sir, —There is a great, cry to grow more vegetables. At the present time, th6re are acres of good cabbage and carrots being destroyed, as there is no sale for them. Those who are thinking of growing vegetables should get a guarantee from the Government that they won’t be wasted, or a dead loss to the grower.—Yours, etc., RUSTIC. September 25, 1942.
