Mr A. F. McMurtrie, assistant-direc-tor of education, addressed the annual meeting of the Canterbury Employers’ Association on Monday evening. He returned north yesterday. Lieutenant H. Edgar, of the Canterbury Regiment, has been appointed to the rank of captain (temporary), according to a Gazette notice.
