STUDY OF FRENCH
Sir,—“ Snake Gully” supports, a proposal to cease teaching French in our secondary schools, with the old plea that it will n*ver be of any use in future life. This is not true, for I know that both ,in this and the last war even a smattering of French has often proved very useful to our boys. We do not fully realise the handicap of the language difficulty in war. Many a soldier dies simply because he cannot talk freely wifh the medical officer.—Yours, etc., MAHITA. September 28, 1942.
