VEGETABLES
Sir,—ln a recent article in “The Press” about vegetable growing I note that an offer by the Christchurch Drainage Board of land at the sewage farm had been accepted for growing vegetables. Every day the public are being told to eat more vegetables, preferably raw, to obtain all the vitamins, etc., but there must be many who, like myself, would appreciate the opinion of Dr. Telford as to the health vitamins contained in vegetables grown in soil so polluted with sewage and disease from the whole of Christchurch that even milk from cows grazed thereon cannot be used for human consumption. Before this project is put into operation would it not be safer 'to have a thorough investigation made to ascertain what dangers, if any, to the public health may be incurred from such an undertaking.—Yours, etc., PURITY.
