CHURCHILL AUCTIONS

RESPONSE AT TIMARU The appeal for gifts to be included in the Churchill Auctions at Dunedin closed last week at Timaru. The auctions are being organised under the direction of the National Patriotic Fund Board, and an appeal was made for gifts of valuable books, historical documents, original pictures, and prints.

The response to, the appeal has been fairly good at Timaru. The librarian of the Timaru Public Library (Miss A. K. Elliott) has acknowledged many gifts. It wa« intended originally to send the gifts to Christchurch for the auction there. When the authorities at Christchurch decided to abandon their sale the decision to send them to Dunedin was made.
