ELMWOOD CLUB That tennis club members give full support to the game and keep it up to a standard of excellence until the .soldiers returned from the war. was emphasised by the president of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, Mr J. Mercer, at the opening of the season at the Elmwood Club's courts on Saturday, Mr Mercer said there were more important things than tennis at present, but if members did not do their best in these very difficult times, the soldiers would merely have to start the work over again on their return. The season was declared open by Mr H, Holland, in the absence of his son, the Hon S. G. Holland, who is president of the club During the afternoon the courts were fully occupied and for so early in the season good form was shown.
