New Airgraph Service.—On September 9 Mr Churchill opened an airgraph service to South Africa with a message to General Smuts, which has been received in Pretoria. Mr Churchill in his communication expressed gratification that the handicaps of time and space had been overcome and expressed the hope that the service would long remain to promote mutual knowledge and friendship between the two countries.—Rugby, September 26. For the forty-sixth successive week the National Savings pennant was flown at Hokitika last week. When accounts closed at noon on Saturday, £247 8s had been subscribed, a surplus of £35 Bs.
