Leete, “Cranford,” Akaroa. The engagement is announced of Joan, only daughter of Mrs and the late Mr N. W. Robbins, and Richard, youngest son of 'Mr and Mrs C. W. Yales, both of Christchurch. The engagement is announced of Joyce Elaine, elder daughter of Mr D. E. L. Collett and the late Mrs Collett, Sumner road. Lyttelton, to Merton, second son of Mr W. J. Peters and the late Mrs Peters, Waiotira, North Auckland.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE CLUB
The third birthday party of the Canterbury Women's Institute Club was celebrated recently at Harmony Hall, when Mrs S. Candy presided pver a large attendance of members and visitors. Mgsdantes Qpodman, Turland, Mo£ree, and Young replied on behalf Of their institute?, and Mrs Morten, president of the Canterbury Federation, cut the cake and gave a short talk. The musical programme included items by the following: Miss Millicent Jennings (songs). Misses Jennings and Torkinglon (duets), Mrs Freeman Holmes (musical monologues), Mrs Amos (pianoforte solos). Members of the drama circle presented a play, produced by Mrs Harbutt. Donations were given to the Mayoress’* Christinas parcel fund.
