ARMED FORCES APPEALS
DECISIONS OF BOARD
Ronald Duncan, a market gardener, appeared before the Armed Services Appeal Board yesterday and asked for continued exemption from military service if he took over a farm and sold his market garden. Appellant had been granted a sine die adjournment as a market gardener, but he considered that a fresh appeal was necessary if he sold out. He told the board that he was negotiating for the purchase of a farm and he had good prospect* of selling his garden to another market gardener who had been granted a sine die adjournment. The buyer would simply add to his present property. “It’s a great idea of yours,” said Mr J, S. Barnett, chairman of the board. "It seems that we can combine a few of these market gardens if, after an appeal is allowed, a man can straightaway take on further property." It was decided to adjourn the appeal pending a report from the farming committee.
