Lieutenant Matthews, who was bom in Rangiora, was a well-known member of the teaching profession in Taranaki. RIGHT; Flight Sergeant Aubrey W. Osman, son of Sgrgeant W. C. J. and Mrs Osman, 115 Paparoa street, Christchurch, missing on air operations over Germany. Flight Sergeant Osman was born and educated in Ashburton, and was also for some time at the Cathedral Grammar School, Christchurch, Before leaving Wigram for England in June, 1941, he was employed in the Justice Department, being stationed at Timaru, Gore, and Invercargill.
