When questioned at a meeting of the board of the Wellington Free Ambulance as to the stale of the fleet of vans, the superintendent. Mr Roffe. said that five of tiie vans ought to be replaced, some of them having done more than 105.000 miles. “Unfortunately,” he said, “we can't replace them —we just keep on paying the repair bills.” The honorary treasurer (Mr J. W. Jack) said that there was a replacement fund, but in spite of that the board could not replace vans as things were at present.
