NEW RESERVE ON HILLS

* MEMORIAL TO MR J. F. SCOTT

The land given to the Christchurch Domains Board by Mrs M. G. Scott, as reported in “The Press" yesterday, has been given as a memorial to her husband, the late Mr J. F. Scott, who for many years was a member of the Heathcote County Council and the Domains Board Mr Scott died in July. 1941. He was always particularly interested in Domains Board activities, bringing to it a keen botanical knowledge. He had been associated with the Port Hills for the whole of his life. The area of land given is just under 20 acres. It comprises two hilltops and is all above the Summit road. It will be known as the John Flinders Scott Reserve, and will be developed by the Domains Board as a public reserve and for the establishment of botanical specimens which require a hill habitat.
