Nicely Placed The Auckland pacer Neutrality was set to give away 98 yards in the Home Guard Handicap at Trentham on Saturday, but in a faster class, In the Wellington Handicap, to-morrow, he .figures on 'the limit. Trie class is altogether different, and in Ronald Logan, Pacing Power, Blaydon, Indian Clipper, and others, he will be meeting some of the fastest pacers. in the Dominion. His trainer is M. Stewart, who is not likely to take a horse sofar afield without good prospects of winning a race. Neutrality is an aged gelding by Jack Potts from a good pacer in Lily Bingen. A’ Matinee Meeting A totalisator permit has not been grantid for the matinee meeting to be held at Ashburton on October 3. but the stakes la four races are batter than are usually given In maiden events at meetings where betting Is legalised. The principal event the Patriotic Handicap, 3min 34sec class, is worth £250, and three other races will each carry £l5O In stake money. The proceeds will be given to the Ashburton Patriotic Fund and Included In the programme are two trials for ponies which will be ridden by children. A Well-bred Sire Wrack’s Star, the sire of Lady Tornado, a winner at the patriotic meeting at Trentham last Saturday, is not well known as a sire, but ’he' has breeding to recommend.
