The sale of ice cream is being pro-1 hibited in England, the main reason ! being that transport is needed for other purposes. In America ice cream, particularly in the summer, is regarded j not so much as a luxury as a nutritious food, and is given to patients in hospitals. England, and in a less degree Now Zealand, still regards it as a “sweet.” more or less for juvenile consumption. American servicemen now in New Zealand, go'for ice cream as a food, and say that it is as sustaining as a bowl of soup, and to most people more palatable.
