ARMISTICE SOUGHT IN MADAGASCAR Tire Antananarivo radio station reports that the Vichy authorities in Madagascar have asked for an armistice. The radio broadcast a personal message from the French governor, saying that he was sending plenipotentiaries to the British commander, asking for the cease fire and the opening of negotiations. The report was later confirmed from the radio at Diego Suarez. —London, September 16.
