WARNING AGAINST OVEROPTIMISM
QUEBEC. Sept. 15,
The Canadian Minister of Justice (Mr E. Lapointe), speaking at the opening of the autumn session of the courts at St. Laurent, expressed uneasiness about what could happen in the next few months. He issued a warning against over-optimism and said that when Canada entered the war she placed too much confidence in the invincibility of the British Navy and the great distances separating Canada from the battlefields. “N -.v we must realise that we laboured under delusions,”; he said. “The maximum effort of all the citizens of the. United Nations is necessary if we wish to preserve our liberty.”
