CHINESE AND JAPANESE ATTACKS CHUNGKING, Sept. 15. The Chinese closing in on Kinhwa captured Wuyi, 23 miles to the south, killing 500 Japanese. The Japanese are attacking Makien-shih, north-east of Lanchi, and are pushing the Chinese The Chungking correspondent of the “New York Times" says that the Chinese are engaged in large-scale rehabilitation of the ravaged areas of Chekiang and Kiangsi, close upon the heels of the withdrawing Japanese. The measures include the relief of refugees, the treatment of epidemic diseases, and a final round-up of traitors. The keynote of the reconstruction efforts is greater c«-operation between the people and the army.
