WOMEN ON POST OFFICE STAFF

With more women being employed as replacements, the Chief Post Office now has in its employ 308 women of the total staff of about 650. Most of the womsh are temporary employees replacing men called to military service, the normal number of women on the staff being about 50. In the latest ballot 27 mone men from the Chief Post Office have been called up, and the staff of women will, it is expected, be increased to meet depletions from this and future ballots. It was stated yesterday that it had so far been the department’s policy not to lodge appeals for its men.
