FARM WORKERS AND THE ARMY

Sir,—l think that some of the farmers who are squealing over shortage of labour would be well advised to look at some of the successful sine die appellants. They might also think for a moment or two about the fully experienced married farm hands leaving their wives and families. I think the Government should call all Grade 1 single men who are not in camp and release the competent married men from camp. No man is a key man on a farm. He can be replaced by men above military age. There are numerous farm managers and married couples seeking farm jobs.—Yours, etc., DIGGER. 1914. September 14, 1942. Sir,—All praise to the letter of "Equality of Sacrifice." Perhaps it may be because my own husband sbld out his farm and left a young family to go and do his bit. despite appeals, that makes me see dodgers without the aid of glasses.—You/-, etc., AT *ER BOY. September 14, 1942.
