ESSENTIAL INDUSTRY

Sir,—ln "The Press" of Saturday there is a report of an appeal for exemption from military service of a presser of women's gowns. The appeal was adjourned sine die! On Sunday we heard 'the voices of many weary diggers who had spent more than two years in the desert expressing wishes to return to New Zealand after two years and more of service. There is no appeal board for them. —Yours, etc. R. F. JOYCE. Kaiapoi, September 12. 1942.
