RANGIORA Yardings at the Rangiora stock sale yesterday were good. Prices were;— Sheep: Ewes and lambs (all counted), 13s 6d to 16s 6d; aged ewes In lamb. 12s 6d to 13s 9d. Cattle.—Springers, £7 to £l3; springing heifers, £6 to £7; fat cows, £lO ss; store cows, £2 2s 6d to £5 10s; yearling heifers, £4 ss. Pigs.—Baconers, £4 to £5 Is; stores, 38s to 425; slips, 28s to 31s; weaners, 22s to 255. TINWALD A sharp rise in fat sheep prices was recorded at the Tinwald stock sale yesterday. The entry was up to the usual number, but competition was keen throughout for good quality sheep, and values showed an advance of from 5s to 6s a head. Top price was 48s Id for one extra prime wether sold on account of John Oakley (Ruapuna). the same vendor securing 46s Id for a pen of three, while D. H Clemens (Hinds) received 44s 4d for three. Bidding was brisk for prime ewes, the top price of 44s lOd going to J. Davidson (Hinds). The first entry for the season of shorn ewes was made by H. Stevens (Hinds), nine selling at from 27s 7d to 31s 4d. The range of prices was:—Extra prime wethers, 40s to 48s Id; prime, 35s to 395; medium, 30s to 345; extra prime e,wes made from 39s lOd to 44s I0d; prime. 33s 6d to 295; others, down to 24s lOd. Four fat cows sold at prices ranging from £ll 7s 6d to £l4 12s 6d. and five dairy cows sold at £5 to £9. Heifers made from £3 15s to £4 17s 6d. LORNEVILLE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, September 15. Fat ewes advanced in price by 2s 6d a head at the Lorneville stock sale today, but wethers remained firm at late rates. Values for fat cattle showed a drop of 15s. Best quality fat wethers brought from 42s 6d to 445, good quality 40s 6d to 41s 6d, medium quality 38s 6d to 40s, unfinished 36s to 37s 9d, and light-weights 28s to 34s Prime young ewes realised up to 34s 9d, prime quality from 32s to 335. medium quality 29s 6d to 31s 3d. and unfinished 24s to 26s 6d. A tew pens of hoggets met with keen competition, values ranging from 26s to 30s. Extra prime bullocks realised from £l9 10s to £2l 17s 6d good quality £l7 5s to £lB 10s, good quality medium-weights £l6 5s to £l7, handy-weights £l4 15s to £ls 10s, and light-weights £l2 15s to £l3 15s Extra good heifers brought up to £ls 2s 6d. brime £l2 15s to £l3 15s, mediumweights £ll 5s to £l2 ss, light-weights £9 10s to £lO ss. prime quality cows £l2 to £l3 ss. good quality £ll Iss to £l2 10s, medium quality £lO to £ll, unfinished £8 10s to £9 10s, and Inferior £5 to £6 ss.
