DISAPPOINTMENT IN RUSSIA
SECOND FRONT HOPES r - A. 5 p.m.) LONDON. Sept. 14. 6l|Ql|'ting that the Soviet public refit ■ wly disappointed at the nonH and fKteAf a second front in Europe, f causc^P- 30 Moscow correspondent EAMS : or without justification. firm conviction prevails in Rus- . g ’y that the ‘Munichites’ in England n.md America are braking the wheels of aid to Russia behind the scenes. This is believed to be especially so where the weighing up of the military and technical pros and cons of a second front are concerned.” “The foreign editor of ‘Pravda’ expresses the opinion that the diplomatic liquidation of Munich will attain ds aim only when it is supported by broad and practical measures directed to the rapid defeat of the supporters of Hitler.” The correspondent comments; “A clearer indication could not be demanded of the prevalent view that a second front would be realised this year, but for the influence of the ‘Munichites.’ It would be an error lightly to pass over this state of mind, treating it as merely natural in the circumstances but otherwise of no confequencc. If the Soviet view is erroneous It would be well for steps to be taken to correct It.”
