BRITISH ADVANCE

PROGRESS INLAND IN MADAGASCAR LONDON, Sept. 14. The advance inland of British troops who landed at Morondava, on the south-west coast of Madagascar, is continuing successfully and is meeting with little or no opposition, states a communique issu.'d by the War Office. "On the road from Majunga to Antananarivo, Maevatanana was occupied and early yesterday our leading elements were moving towards Andriba. On the north-west coast our troops are making good progress southwards from Ambanja." Mr Attlee in Newfoundland— The British Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs and Deouty-Prime Minister (Mr C. R. Attlee) has arrived in Newfoundland. He is paying a short visit to discuss common questions with the Governor and Commissioners. From Newfoundland he will go to Ottawa for a few days before returning to Britain.—Rugby, September 14.
