LANDING NEAR CHERBOURG
CAPTURE OF BRITISH SOLDIERS CLAIMED (Rec. 5 p.m.). LONDON, Sept. 14. A German communique states that a British unit consisting of five officers one sergeant-major, and a private, on the night of September 12 attempted' to land east of Cherbourg. They were discovered before they reached the shore and shelled. Their boat sank. Three British officers and a de Gaullist naval officer were taken prisoner. jA major, sergeant-major, and private ! were killed.
