ZONING OF COUNTRY DELIVERIES
Sir,—l understand that the zoning of country deliveries of stores, bread, meat, etc., is being carried out at present. Does zoning mean the handing out of monopolies to small stores, with miserable stocks, which could not possibly satisfy the district, or would there be reasonable protection for the country people against this, and would reasonable competition be allowed in each centre? Also, would there be the right of appeal against injustices which may be •-ptedout by the transport controller or must his decisions, just or unjust, be accepted?— Yours, etc., QUA .ITER DOZEN. September 9, 1942. [“All available facilities will be accessible to the public,” said the South Island zoning officer (Mr T. H. Langford), to whom this letter was referred. p he above letter seems to be the product of a supplier and not the concern of a consumer, but, whoever the writer, he or she can be assured that the fairest deal possible in the existing circumstances will be given to all.”]
