APPLE PRICES
Sir,—lt was with disgust that I read in “The Press” this morning that the Marketing Board intends raising the price of apples a further 2s 6d or 3s a case. This means that from now on thousands of children, the coming men and women of this once* wonderful country, will have to go without. I suppose, as has happened before, that hundreds of cases of perfectly good apples will be dumped because the Marketing Board will not sanction their being sold at a reasonable price. What is happening to all the cases of apples which normally would have been exported from this country?— Yours, etc., ONE MORE STRAW. Ashburton. September 12. 1942.
