Mr L. J. McDonald, secretary of the Standards Institute, Wellington, arrived yesterday to discuss with manufacturers’ groups, principally the clothing group, simplification of products. Mr R. Wilson, assistant-secretary of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, arrived from Wellington yesterday. Mr T. H. Langford, South Island zoning officer, left for the south to-day on zoning business. He will return in the week-end. In appreciation of his services to the Barry’s Bay Dairy Company for 25 years, including six years as chairman, the retiring chairman (Mr C. R. Moore) was presented with an illuminated address from shareholders at the annual meeting of the company. Mr S. J. M. Stewart was elected chairman of directors. Messrs F. W. Cullimore and B. S. Radcliffe, Canterbury-Westland War Amputees’ Association delegates to the New Zealand War Amputees’ conference, have returned to Christchurch. Mr T. G. Beck (district public works engineer) has returned to Christchurch from Wellington, where he attended a meeting of the Soil Conservation Council. Mr H. G. Kilpatrick returned to Christchurch yesterday after acting as workers’ representative in the case before the Arbitration Court at Auckland for a new award for the tannery industry.
