Efforts to Release Bishop Negotiations for the release of the Bishop of Waiapu (the Rt. Rev. G. V. Gerard), who is a prisoner of war, are being carried on through the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) and the Apostolic Delegate of the Roman Catholic Church in Australia, who is in communication with the Vatican. This information was given at the Waiapu Synod by Dean Brocklehurst. He added that Mrs Gerard had received advice stating that her husband was well in health, and that he had Seen, at his own request, removed from an officers’ camp in order to be in touch with the men of lower rank.
