APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE
DECISIONS OF BOARD Decisions were made in appeals heard before the Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday when Mr J. S. Barnett presided, with Meters G. T. Thurston and H, H. McCaw. M& B. D. Thompson appeared for the Crown, and Captain S. Bowron represented the military author!- , tics, Service was recommended to be adjourned sine die for the following reservists;—W. Selbien (fitter), appealed for by R. Buchanan and Sons, Ltd.; James Macaulay Stewart (tractor-loader, driver), Basil Edward Sexton .(foreman metal crusher), appeal by Smart and Sons, Ltd.; Colin Reginald Mason (storekeeper and postmaster); Edward George Jones (policeman), appeal by Director of National Service. Appeals for the following reservists were dismissed:—Sapper S. J. Mitchell (appeal for release by Mrs N. L. Mitchell); Mark Higham (orchardist), appeal by F. Sisson estate; Reginald Edmund Suckling (clerk); R. B. Pluck (surfaceman); Francis Maxwell Ottea (truck driver), appeal by Smart and Sons, Ltd.; R. T. Sowden (labourer), appeal by St. Leonard’s Sawmilling Company, John Ainger (manager). Decision was reserved in the following appeals:—?. N. J. Mallns (Journeyman baker), appeal by J. T. Norton, Ltd.; F. T. Anning (farmer). Postponement of service recommended! G, J. Bruce (coremaker), appeal by Scot! Bros., Ltd. (to December 1); A. D. Blau feranedriver), appeal by Director of National Service; H. Gread (labourer), appeal by G. J. Roud and Son, till Novenv ber 30. Leave till November 30 was reconu mended for David Robertson, appeal bj Marathon Rubber Footwear Company. The release for two months of C. )| Barnett, appeal by Barnett and. Cony pany, was recommended. The appeal against overseas serviu of G. R. H. Maddren was adjourned siw die.

Mr E. A. Lee presided, and the vthe members of the board were Messrs C M. Hall and J. E. Jones.
