ENGAGEMENTS

The engagement is announced of Aeleen Barbara, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs P. R. Webb, 210 Otipua road, Timaru, and William Lindsay, youngest son of Mr and Mrs E. Newall, 58 Le Cren street, Timaru. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE Le Son’s Bay.—Mrs Bailey presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Institute. Three visitors were welcomed. A donation towards the soldiers’ teams was received from the Welcome Club. The roll call, "something for the lepers,” resulted in a substantial sum being collected. Mrs H. Dalglish judged the competitions for a bowl of flowers, specimen bloom, and a jar of preserved pears. The hostesses were Mrs Bailey and Miss Joy Bailey.
