The Eucalypts An excellent short guide to the study of the common Australian eucalypts has been issued by the Melbourne University Press in Dr. Reuben T. Patton’s Know Your Own Trees (48 pp.). His aim is to "cultivate the power of observation that is such a characteristic of our busfcmen,” and ally it to the methods .of botanic study. There is need for such a small book on the major trees of the New Zealand forests. Anthropology The June issue of Oceania opens a preliminary report of field work in the Golden region of Western South Australia. by Roland and Catherine Berndt. Dr. Phyllis Kaberry’s study of law and political organisation in the Abelam tribe, New Guinea, is completed. The Australian National Research Council k faithfully, continues the admirable Bi work of this quarterly.
