FOUND GUILTY OF DESERTION
FOUR SOLDIERS SENTENCED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 9. The following sentences have been imposed by a district court-martial in a North Island military camp; Private Ronald James Henry- Ramsbottom, found guilty of two charges of desertion and one of attempting escape, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for 18 months; Sapper Colin Vivian Symons, found guilty of desertion, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for 18 months; Gunner Walter Patrick William Conlan, found guilty when on active service of deserting His Majesty’s service, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for 18 months; Gunner Albert James Sellars, found guilty when on active service of deserting His Majesty’s service, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for eight months.
