OFFICIAL FORECASTS (P.S.S.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. The weather forecast for Canterbury. Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: ' Moderate north-easterlies on the coast, otherwise fresh north-westerly winds; some scattered rain in the Alps; weather otherwise fair to cloudy and mild. Further outlook; little change. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is as follows: Fresh to strong north-westerly winds; weather cloudy, with occasional rain, especially in the south. Temperatures moderate to mild. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was line and warm, the wind changing in the afternoon from north-east to north-west. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and there was a light wind from the east. The barometer at 30,1 inches (1019.3 millibars) was falling.
