Mrs Elliott Myers and family will spend the school holidays at Sumner. •- Mrs Martin F. Cock (Khandallah, Wellington), who has been in Christchurch for the Grand National meeting, will leave Christchurch to'day on hei return home. Miss Betty McKay (Rotorua) is paying a short visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs A. W. McKay, "Deep Deane," Centaurus road, Christchurch. Motions of sympathy in bereavement were passed with Mesdames Stott, Fechney, Wilde, and King at the monthly meeting of the Kirwee subcentre of the Red Cross Society. A donation of £2 was handed in for the Mayoress's Christmas Parcel Fund at the meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, Miss C. Henderson presiding. Miss Hunt was elected superintendent of the birthday league. Members gave reports of the recent meeting of the National Council of Women. Mr A. C. Brassington presided at the recent meeting of the Christchurch Nursery Play Centre Association when Mrs Read Masters, honorary secretary, reported that satisfactory progress had been made with the Fendalton. St. Albans, and Peterborough play centres, and that it was hoped to open centres in Linwood anc Riccarton in the near future. Conference day was held during tht week-end at Knox Church Sunday school hall for members of the Presbyterian Sunday School Teachers Union. Mr J. Shankland presided and led the devotions Speakers were the Revs. D. D. MacLachlan, H. J. Crawford, and A. D. Horwell.-Mrs Weatherhead and Miss Armour sang vocal solos. WOMEN'S DIVISION OF FARMERS' UNION Riccarton.—Members of the Riccartor Women's Division of the Farmers' Union celebrated the seventh birthday of theii branch recently, when Mrs F. J. Shanks welcomed visiting members from sistet branches. Mrs J. A. Crawford cut the birthday cake. Items were given by Mm Pearce (songs), and Riccarton member! gave a sketch. Mrs Franks won a competition. Broadfleld.—The August meeting of tht Broadfleld branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held with Mrs Wallace presiding. It was decided to send a Christmas parcel to each local man serving in the forces. Hostesses were Misses P. and G. Wallace. Results of the competitions were as follows Eggs: Miss P.
