REEFTON SCHOOL OF MINES

Authority/to have adjustments made to the school survey instruments was granted the director at the monthly meeting of the council of the Reefton School of Mines. Advice of examinations dates under the Coal Mines and Metal Mines Acts were received from the District Inspector of Mines. The school director (Mr Bolitho) reported that this year the number of students taking examinations would show an improvement. For the month, 37 assays had been made as follows: 25 quartz; 2 scheelite; 1 silica deposit; 5 bullion, tests; 2 coal dust samples: 2 cyanide solutions. Repairs to the school buildings will be started shortly. Class attendances were; Reefton 20, Waiuta 1, Wallsend 5, Blackball 4. It was decided to join the Reefton Public Library and to make use of the service offered for the loan of technical books by the Country Library Service.
