CAFFIN, Secretary. 6021 PUBLIC NOTICES. CHRISTCHURCH METROPOLITAN E.P. SERVICES. ORDER OF THE DAY. TO BE OBSERVED DURING THE NEXT TRIAL. 1. The Alarm will be sounded one evening during August after dark. 2. This is a compulsory trial for all E.P.S. workers who will quickly get to their duly stations. Their Section Leaders will record their times of arrival. 3. They will go off duty upon instructions from their Leaders—not necessarily when the )"all clear” is .sounded. 4. Arm bands must be worn and identification cards carried. Any personnel not having these should apply to their leaders. 5. Vehicles of the' first flight (black tabs or red tabs only) to proceed to their reporting points immediately. Second flight (yellow tabs) will be called before the "all clear.” Third flight (green tabs and maroon tabs) will probably not be called until the following day. No vehicle can rely on being allowed to proceed during the period of emergency unless ■it carries the Christchurch Metropolitan E.P.S. sticker and permit to travel, or is an Armed Forces vehicle painted in Armed Forces colours (sick, injured, or maternity urgent cases should not rely on private vehicles but may obtain St. John Ambulances by ringing 32-231). 6. Bicycles (complying with the Lighting Regulations) may be used by E.P.S. workers, other bicycles may not rely on using the streets and roads. 7 Pedestrians should keep off the streets and should take shelter, except they are E.P.S. workers whose duties as shown by their Identification cards, require them to be on duty in exposed positions. 8. Boy runners under 13 years of age (who are in the runners’ reserve until reaching 13) should not go on duty. All other runners should be on call at their duty stations. 9 All workers at Medical Aid Posts should be on duty in this trial. 10. Fire Block Wardens should be on duty within their own blocks, and all equipment, including the transport cars, should be tested out. Those blocks not having Are equipment should apply to their District Fire Warden. 11. The Commercial Fire Guard will commence continuous fire watching , duties on Tuesday, 18th August, at 5 p.m., and will continue this duty until after the “all clear” signal or. the day of the trial. Every Building Organiser will furnish' the Secretary of the Commercial Fire Guard Committee before Monday. 17th August, with a complete rota of the fire watchers in the buildings under Ivis care and will prominently display a copy of this rota within the building where all concerned may peruse it. Any member of any fire guard who fails to do his or her allotted duty must be reported to the Building Organiser for that Building who will report to the Section Officer concerned. 12. Members of the Relief (Almoners) Section will be prepared to go on duty the morning following the "alarm” in teams as arranged by the Finance Section, and they will report at the points communicated to them by their Committee. 13. Tire Dispersal and Accommodation Unit will hold an Executive meeting immediately following the “all clear” signal and will act on reports issued from Central Reporting Point. 14. The Supplies Unit will function the morning following the “alarm” upon instructions from the Executive. Milk and bread delivery personnel and vehicles will follow their usual rounds (except if otherwise instructed). Other personnel and vehicles will receive instructions from the Supply Controller through advertisement in the Public Press on Monday, August 17th. 15. District Wardens and Section Leaders will issue detailed instructions to all personnel before Monday, 17th August, 1942, either in writing. or else at practices, drills, lectures, etc. ERNEST H.
